Step 1. Measure Your Window width
- Use a steel measuring tape, measure the total width of your window frame (left to right).
- To achieve a full drape with ripple folds, the curtain fabric should be 1.5–2x the width of your window.
Example:
- Window width = 50 inches
- Recommended curtain width = 75–100 inches (divided into 2 panels if preferred)

Step 2. Measure Your Window Length
Measure from the top of the curtain rod down to your desired length. Choose from these common styles:
- Sill Length – Curtain ends right at the windowsill.
- Apron Length – Curtain ends 4–6” below the sill.
- Floor Length – Curtain just touches the floor (most popular, clean look).
- Puddle Length – Curtain extends 1–6” onto the floor for a dramatic, luxurious effect.

Step 3: Select Heading Style
Pinch Pleat – Elegant, tailored folds for a formal and sophisticated look.
Hooks (Pleated Hooks) – Versatile option, easy to hang on a track or rod.
Grommet Top – Modern and sleek, slides smoothly along the rod.
Rod Pocket – Simple and traditional, curtain slips directly onto the rod.

Step 4. Add a Blackout Liner (Optional)
For bedrooms, nurseries, or media rooms, consider adding a blackout liner.
Benefits:
- Blocks up to 100% of outside light for better sleep.
- Provides extra insulation, keeping your room cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
- Adds privacy and protects curtains from sun fading.
